Thailand has barred Cambodian motorcycles from entering the country through all border checkpoints, in a move that signals escalating tensions between the two Southeast Asian neighbors.

The Burapha Taskforce announced the ban early Monday, stating that it took effect at 5 a.m. and will remain in place until further notice. The decision follows Cambodia’s abrupt suspension of fuel imports from Thailand, announced late Sunday night.

The Cambodian government cited rising political and trade frictions as the reason for halting petrol and gas imports, though no further details were provided. In response, Thai authorities moved quickly to tighten border controls, effectively halting the flow of Cambodian motorcycles across all official crossing points.

Officials on both sides have yet to comment on potential diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation.
