The Thai Government has approved plans to borrow 400 billion baht to ease cost of living pressures.

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said the emergency decree was agreed by cabinet.

Half of the funding will go to support vulnerable households, while the rest will be used to support energy transition efforts.

Finance Minister Ekniti Nitithanprapas said rising energy prices are affecting everyone.

The borrowing will come from domestic sources and is expected to be submitted to parliament for approval next week.
